Proxmox support for SMEs

Proxmox VE is an open virtualisation platform without per-core licence fees. We deploy it for SMEs, set it up properly and look after it day to day.

  • Setup

    Single server or cluster from three nodes, with distributed storage via Ceph or ZFS replication.

  • Operations

    Host updates, monitoring of storage, replication and cluster health, alerts when something looks wrong.

  • Backup

    Backup of all virtual machines with Proxmox Backup Server, with an off-site copy in Switzerland.

  • Licensing

    We advise on the right Proxmox subscription and keep track of renewals.

Migrating from VMware to Proxmox

Since the Broadcom takeover, VMware licences have become much more expensive for many SMEs. Moving to Proxmox can be planned and done without a long outage.

Duration: for a typical SME with a few servers, expect a few days of work spread over evenings or a weekend. Downtime per server is usually between a few minutes and a few hours.

    Assessment

    We record virtual machines, storage, networks and dependencies and check whether the hardware can be reused.

    Test migration

    A non-critical server moves first so we can validate drivers, performance and backup.

    Move

    The remaining machines follow using the Proxmox import wizard, outside your working hours. The old platform stays available as a fallback.

    Completion

    Backup and monitoring are set up and the new platform documented. VMware is removed only once everything runs.

What does Proxmox cost?

Proxmox VE itself is free. For production systems we recommend a subscription with the stable update channel and vendor support. It is priced per CPU socket and is usually far cheaper than VMware.
